Editorial Policy
Editorial Standards
The Commercial Kitchen Standard is a publication of record for kitchen leaders. The policies below define how we report, who reports, what we verify, and what we will not do. We hold ourselves to them so readers and regulators can hold us to them.
1. Mission
To give kitchen leaders accurate, primary-source-verified coverage of the compliance, operational, and financial realities that govern commercial kitchens. We write for the people who carry the line — owners operating one location or one hundred — not for regulators, not for vendors, and not for the trade-press circuit.
Our voice is protective and plainspoken. Closer to Consumer Reportsthan to industry trade press. We name what we find, cite where we found it, and never pretend coverage we don’t have.
2. Editorial Independence + Conflict-of-Interest Disclosure
Stovio Advisors LLC is a wholly-owned subsidiary of EvidLY LLC. Cleaning Pros Plus, HoodOps, and EvidLY are sister brands operated by the same founder. We disclose this relationship in the footer of every page and in the body of any article that references a sister brand.
Editorial coverage is not influenced by sister-brand commercial interests. When we route readers to a sister brand, we say so plainly — we never disguise it. When a non-sister vendor pays for placement on our Vendor Connect pages, that placement is clearly marked and does not influence editorial coverage of the underlying topic.
We do not accept advertising from product competitors or insurance carriers, ever.
3. Primary-Source Verification (Non-Negotiable)
Every regulatory claim we publish must be traceable to a primary source. That means the actual statute, regulation, code section, ordinance, agency publication, or court decision — not a secondary report, not a press release, not a trade publication summary.
Every article carries a public editor notes archive at /editorial-standards/notes/[article-slug]. The editor notes list each primary source consulted, the date of verification, and the editor who verified it. The verification gate is absolute: no regulatory citation publishes without it.
4. Corrections Policy
We log every correction publicly at /corrections within 24 hours of being notified. Each entry records:
- The article corrected (slug and title)
- The date of the correction
- What was wrong
- What changed
- Which editor made the correction
We do not silently update published articles. If a claim was wrong, we say so on the corrections page and within the article itself.

5. Diversity Statement
Commercial kitchens are built by people from every background. Our coverage reflects that. We seek out kitchen leaders from operations of every size, geography, cuisine, ownership structure, and tenure — and contributing editors and sources whose lived experience matches the kitchens our readers operate.
Our editorial board is small at launch. As it grows, we will publish the composition openly on this page.
6. Ethics Policy
- We do not publish content we cannot stand behind under our own names. Every article carries a named author with verifiable credentials.
- We do not publish vendor reviews or rankings. Vendors are listed on Vendor Connect against a published vetting criteria — not ranked editorially.
- We do not accept gifts, travel, or hospitality from sources or vendors in exchange for coverage.
- We name our sources whenever the source consents. Anonymity is permitted for human-interest kitchen-leader perspectives only — never for regulatory claims.
- We disclose conflicts of interest within articles whenever a topic touches a sister brand’s commercial interest.
7. Fact-Checking Process
Every draft passes through a verification gate before publication:
- Each regulatory claim is matched to a named primary source.
- Each statistic is matched to the named source publication.
- Each quoted source has confirmed the quotation in writing.
- Each named jurisdiction’s authority chain (Environmental Health Department, AHJ, code adopted) is verified against the agency’s current published materials.
- Each article’s editor notes are written, reviewed, and archived publicly before the article goes live.
8. Funding + Ownership Disclosure
Ownership. Stovio Advisors LLC is wholly owned by EvidLY LLC. The Founding Editor and EvidLY founder are the same person: Arthur Haggerty.
Funding. Stovio is funded by its parent company and by Vendor Connect subscriptions. We do not accept venture capital. We do not accept product-competitor advertising. We do not accept insurance-carrier advertising.
Cross-brand routing. When an article’s topic creates a clear next step for the reader, we route readers to the most useful resource available — sometimes a sister brand (EvidLY, Cleaning Pros Plus, HoodOps, ScoreTable, or Policy Lens) and sometimes a third-party Vendor Connect partner. Every routing block is FTC-disclosed in the body of the article.
9. AI Use Disclosure
Initial article drafts in The Commercial Kitchen Standard are generated with AI assistance — specifically, large-language-model tools used as a writing aid. We disclose this openly because we believe readers deserve to know how the work they read was produced.
Every regulatory claim, statistic, quotation, and jurisdiction reference in an AI-assisted draft is independently verified by the named editor against primary sources before publication. The editor is responsible for the final article. The AI is responsible for nothing — only the named editor and the named publisher.
We do not publish AI-generated images of real kitchens, real people, or real venues. Editorial illustrations are clearly marked.
